Canberra and Region Multiple Birth Association (CARMBA)

Request for volunteers to assist families with multiples

The Canberra and Region Multiple Birth Association has been providing emotional and practical support to multiple birth families for almost 40 years. We are a volunteer organisation run by parents of multiples of all ages. CARMBA is a support network for parents, grandparents, legal guardians, and expectant or adoptive parents of twins, triplets, or more!

CARMBA is an active organisation founded in 1973 and services the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and adjacent areas. We are also proud to be a member of the Australian Multiple Birth Association (AMBA). Our aim is to offer support and provide information to multiple birth families throughout the ante and postnatal periods, the pre-school stage and the primary and secondary school years. Membership is open to all parents, guardians and grandparents of multiple birth children.

CARMBA’s Family Support Program (FSP) offers in-home support to families. This program aims to provide emotional, physical and material support to multiple birth families in need so that they can enjoy a harmonious home environment, quality family time and emotional well-being. The program is designed to connect volunteers from the community with families to help with their children and light household chores. The volunteer aspect of the FSP has been beneficial to our families and volunteers as well.

With busy lives, it can be hard to find time to volunteer. However, the benefits of volunteering are enormous to you, your family, and the community. It can help you form friendships, learn new skills, and even advance your career. Volunteering can also help protect your mental and physical health. Not only is volunteering great for the community it connects you with others, increases self-confidence, combats depression and helps you stay physically healthy.

CARMBA general meetings are generally held the second Monday of each month at the Queen Elizabeth II Family Centre. Meetings begin at 7:30 PM. The meeting address is 129 Carruthers Street Curtin ACT 2605 – All potential volunteers and members welcome.
